The body of Ashok Pradhan, a Sub-Inspector (SI) of Ambadala police station under Muniguda block in Rayagada district, was recovered hanging from his quarters on Saturday evening.

A police station employee saw SI Pradhan in a dazed state and immediately informed others. After that, the police personnel broke the door and rescued him and took him to the Ambadala Community Health Center. There, the doctor declared him dead. After this incident, terror and panic have prevailed in the Ambadala area.

The deceased SI Pradhan was a resident of Bigapadar village in Phulbani district. He lived with his family in a rented house in Ambadala. Sources have revealed that he left his house on Saturday evening and went to the police station.

According to initial reports, it is suspected that he may have taken such extreme measures due to some family reasons. However, the owner of the rented house where the deceased SI was staying has said that he has never seen or heard of any quarrel or unrest within the family. This has raised suspicions about the circumstances of the death.

It is not yet clear whether the SI's death was due to family problems, work-related stress or any other reason. Police are investigating the incident. More details are awaited.
